Update: We’re back from Nepal!

November 18th, 2009

kids at slum 1While we were in Nepal, we went to see the kids that were helped so much by your generosity. We visited The Sunrise Children’s Orphanage, The Kalimati Slums and the school that we have made it possible for these kids to attend.

It was a humbling experience to be welcomed into these places. It was especially rewarding to know that our quiz night has made it possible for their education to continue. We talked with Emma Taylor about strategies for the future and how the money raised can best be put to use. I am happy to say that we have made it a commitment to make the Kathmandu Kids Quiz Night a yearly event. Tickets for the 2010 Quiz Night are now on sale!

And now the charity has achieved tax deductable status with the Australian Tax Office.

kids at slum 2A special thank you once again to the 2009 sponsors who helped us raise over $24,500.00 for these kids. A reminder that every dollar has gone to these kids. Sunrise Children’s Orphanage — under the guidance of Emma Taylor —  runs the programme as a part of their unpaid work. On top of sending the kids to school, there has also been two bamboo class rooms built in the slums. These are for the kids who are too young to go to school or those who haven’t yet made the commitment to do the daily school attendance. Some funds are needed to facilitate these classrooms with books and pens which we will also be providing.

As a reminder, those sponsors are:

Once again, many thanks for your assistance in helping these kids have a better chance.

Yours sincerely,
Paul Cumming
